What are the best heads for a bone stock 400cid motor with a edelbrock street tunnel ram intake with 2x4 carb?

There are many companies that make high flow aluminum heads in the aftermarket that will bolt on about 60 hp. They are already ported and polished and have a low 644 cc chambers to raise your compression. If you are going this far, then i would recommend swapping out the camshaft as well. The cam and heads work together. Putting heads on with a stock or near stock cam will not allow the engine to breather properly and you will have wasted your money with the heads. But everything works together. You need a lower rear gear ration, cam, heads ,headers, intake and carbueration to make this engine fly. My recommendation is to call a cam company such as comp cams, or lunati or whoever you choose. Explain what heads you want to buy and ask for their help in location the proper cam for your application.

Good luck

PS... I just finished my project Corvette with the very same ideas that you have for your motor.
