I just put a Edelbrock carburetor on my Oldsmobile engine?

I put the spacer on to go from spread bore to square bore and hooked everything up. I even checked the installation video on the edelbrock Cd to make sure it was done right yet my car still won't start up. Its acts like it wants to start but don't fully turn over. the carburetor is getting gas. ...opinions anyone??|||Make sure all section being install properly, the accelerator cable, the choke control, the fuel line, and the ignition system. Set the Edelbrock for rich to have easy start up. If all are set, then what you need is passion to let the fuel reach the combustion chamber and get ignite, unless you pour a bit of fuel directly to the cylinder.|||it should fire right up if it,s getting gas. what about spark, are you getting spark to the plugs? go back over your work to see if you forgot something.|||Welcome to engine diagnostics 101. Did you have to move the coil when installing the carb. If you did, did you put it back and all wires attached correctly. Did the distributor get moved during the installation process. Did you loosen fuel line near carb to determine fuel was reaching the carburetor? Did you check the float levels to make sure they are adjusted properly? Are the idle jets set correctly? When you installed the adapter did you make sure you used the correct gaskets between the adapter and the intake manifold and the adapter and the carburetor? Did you check to make sure that when you moved the throttle lever on the side of the carb it moved easily and did not come in contact with something that would inhibit its movement.? If needed, did you charge your battery so you would have a full charge for crisp fast cranking? Have you tried squirting a little fuel down the primary venturis of the carburetor and then cranking the engine? If you have checked all of these things and found them to be correct and then squirted some fuel into the carb and it still won't start I would say you have an electrical problem. Even if the carb is seriously out of adjustment when you bypass the carb and squirt fuel directly into the manifold the engine should start and run if even for only a short period of time. If it does run then you have a fuel problem and need to go back and recheck everything fuel related. It is not entirely impossible that you could have gotten a malfunctioning carburetor and you may have to take it back and get a replacement. It doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen. Good luck
