What is Better a Holly Carburator or a Edelbrock Carb for a chevy 350 engine? and why?

what are your thought on the best Carburator for a chevy 350 engine... and is there a certain intake manfold that would best suit it? Gratefull for any help=)|||The stock carb is a better choice. I can tune a Rochester to run with the best of them. Now if I were to buy an after market carb, Edelbrock is the most user friendly carb. A Holley carb requires a lot of tuning. Now if you go after market on your carb buy a matching intake. Eldelbrock 1406 carb works very well with a 2101 Performer intake and will allow your 350 to breath better. But if you do this you will also need to work with the exhaust. You dont need headers but a free flowing exhaust will allow for better performance. If you do get some headers, DO NOT buy a cheap set or you will be replacing exhaust gaskets often. Spend the money and buy a quality set, Hooker makes a great set of headers. Hooker Comps if I remember correctly. Don't get me wrong, Holley makes a good product but if you do not know how to work with them it can and will be a nightmare.|||edelbrock edelbrock edelbrock :) Thats just me and the rest of the racing teams opinion....As to which is better and why, it will vary from engine to engine, even if they are the same type* massaging a head gasket is bad news from any perspective, you will not get the seal or the correct torque. If the torque is off, well, simply put, YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE QUENCH AREA!!!|||holly is great as long as you set then up. in the event of a backfire through the carb, you can blow out the power valve. there are kits for this now available.|||most any aftermarket intake will do.....

but carburator,,, well the Holley is twice the edelbrock.

and a rochestor is the best... any time you have

gas on a gasket you got trouble....

a little massaging and the rochester is best...|||Hmmm...*didn't I just answer this question a couple minutes ago?* (or at least one like it)

I don't think there is any "best". It would be a matter of preferance. You know, whichever one YOU decide to go with. I had good luck with an Edelbrock on a Chevy 327 engine.

Do you want to use it for racing?

Economy?

Just as a stock replacement?

It's your choice....both carbs are good carbs.|||Rochester Quadrajets are the best. It's a spread bore carburetor, and everything else about them is top-notch with a few minor mods. Holleys are OK, but don't make the mistake of thinking a double pumper is better, assuming your car is street-legal. Vacuum secondaries are more than adequate when working right. Edelbrocks are crap, especially if you're talking one of those AFB clones.

As far as intakes, between Edelbrocks, go with a PerformerII for better top-end, or a Torker if it's for towing or 4-wheeling. Similar considerations for other brands. Weiand makes some good ones too.|||Rochester|||I have a Edelbrock performer intake and a Holly double pump 650 cfm carb on my 6.6 403 ci engine, and it's a good combo, the Holly does have some probelems with the jets though, one back fire, and you might as well get ready to change them, over all it's really hard to say.
